Just a random question to all. When did a shy stop being called a shy and become a throw in? Couldn't tell you the last time I heard of a shy being taken.

My old boy has always said it and as time goes on it sounds less right all the time lol.

Growing up; it was always a 'shy' a 'by kick', and the shout was always 'foul' - never 'handball'. 'Wall-passes' were wan-two's and Tommy Gemmell did toe-bashers (not toe-pokes) .
Jim Brogan dished out 'wee messages' - never 'went to ground' and any dugs that came on the pitch were always called John Greig?!
Aye changed days, indeed.

We always (in the north east) called a 'by-kick' a 'place kick'.
