Claims from the Australia that a deal for brown is very close.
Is this why they seem to be focusing on a CM?

If that's the case I think we should consider McGinn. He hasn't quite hit the heights at Villa but I think that's more to do with the team than his ability. Say what you like about him and why he didn't come to us in the summer but he was a stand out in the SPFL. HH.

I understand Bhoys some of you have reservations about McCarthys fitness problems but if he stays fit what a quality player we would have on our hands. IMO he would be an ideal replacement for Broony has similar qualities and may even be an upgrade on him. Anyway we don’t even know if Celtic have a genuine interest in McCarthy.

Ice Man, give us the real figures then about McCarthy's injuries. I said before that he is a terrific player and you obviously agree with that when you state that IF he stays fit he is quality. Therein lies the problem though, he doesn't seem to be able to stay fit. And IF my granny had baws she'd be my granda. HH.

Sorry Bob the cat I’m afraid I don’t have details of his medical history. Sincere apologies. Like I say that site was ridiculed on a previous thread for talking absolute nonsense mentioning either Tierney or Brown suffered a double leg break this season. Ed has stated that McCarthy is no more injury prone than anyone else in our squad.

I find it very strange that Broony would be allowed to leave half-way through a season - even if a decent bid was made - as we have two trophies to play for and even though he may be past his prime, he still has a lot to offer as captain in and around Celtic Park.
I don't know if there has been a fall-out regarding an extended contract or the Ibrox post--mortem has been damaging, but we do seem to be looking at alternatives like McTominay and McCarthy this windo.

McGinn has done very well at Villa and for me that ship has sailed. If and a big if Villa wanted to sell him they would get £5m plus from other Championship club easy and I don’t think we would be prepared to accept we were wrong to get him far cheaper or enter a bidding war with Championship clubs who spend £10-15m on their top players.

Think they would get £10m plus quite easily he's been their best player and this is a league where waghorn Hanley and Murphy have gone for 5+. Pukki being mentioned for 15m it's nuts down there.
