So going by reports today we agreed to a deal of 8 million for Robert and the bold Pep put a stop to it at the last minute.
I have to wonder why. I can't see him every putting a young guy like Robert's in the team. Plus if he doesn't win anything this year he won't be there next year.

{Ed007's Note - I don't know who's reporting that but that's simply not true.}

Most of the papers have it in today ed.

{Ed007's Note - Well it's still wrong. It looks likePaddy's agent doesn't want it being common knowledge that it was his client that turned down the permanent move, probably in case it affected his popularity with our supporters.}

I think the fact it's being reported that Celtic tried to get it done is what's making most folk happy Ed. Whether it's actually true or not though is another matter.

{Ed007's Note - I said all along that Celtic wanted to sign Roberts permanently so it's nice that the papers have finally caught up. Better late than never.}

Do you think we would have went to the £8M mark? I'd like to think so.

{Ed007's Note - Yes I honestly do, Kev. Lawwell and the board knew how the fans would have reacted if we had managed to sign Roberts permanently and there would have been no risk regarding would the player settle and be able to do the job the manager wants. It would have been a win-win for the Club.
And there's no way Celtic would want to pi$$ City off by messing them around, the Club made it crystal clear to City and Roberts even before the season ended that they would be bidding and trying to sign him permanently.}

Certainly bits of truth about Celtics bid then ed?
Goes against a lot of people idea that the board won't back the manager eh?

{Ed007's Note - Yes there's plenty of truth in it. The people who are saying the board aren't backing the manager or Rodgers will be raging with the board are probably upset that Man City spent more than us.}

who said break the bank? i call it showing ambition, no one is asking them to overspend and do a sevco, just investment by one of the worlds biggest clubs to let us compete a bit better in the champions league.
