If Southampton are selling VVD, would they be interesting in giving us Long rather than paying us the 6-8 million.

I heard this last week, for a season loan, he is a Celtic nut, but he is on 50k a week so do not know how that would fit, he is in the same mould as LG playing on the shoulder of the last man, great pace and turn, I personally think he is better than LG, so do not know how that would work either, certainly he has the big game experience that we need.

Guy I work with is a Southampton fan and they all really dislike him. I agree with them on that he is bang average at most.

{Ed007's Note - I've always thought Shane Long's 70 odd caps for Ireland makes him appealing to some Celtic fans. Anyone who's watched him play football can see he's shite and definitely not good enough for Celtic even as a 3rd choice.}

Agreed he's not shifting griffiths or Moussa anytime soon and would imagine on too high wages to be a third choice.

Loan deal for the young French guy excites me more to be honest. 3 future france internationals coming through their early 20's at celtic park is ridiculously good business on our part, especially with Ntcham and dembele for sell on reasons.

Mind how good henry, trezeguet, Viera, etc were coming through at that age. THese guys are the new batch and if they are anywhere near half as good we'll have done extremely well.

We definitely need striker cover. But for me it's a CB and FB that are the glaring need category.

We have 36 hours to get in someone who is markedly better than what we have. Even if Boyata and Shev were fit I would be feeling the same as neither of the can be trusted not to sell the jerseys with a rubbish pass across the park.

Having a day and a half left to sort this is bad planning. We feck aboot worse than my missus in a shoe shop when it comes to transfers. Eventually Lawell will need to realise quality costs, but the right quality we will have a return on.

The last thing we want is some balls up defensive gaff puts us out of the CL when the dugs in the street know that we are playing Russian roulette.

I had hoped this year would be different. Maybe next year. Been saying that since 91.

Malika - Long better than Griffiths? You have to be joking?!?!? He fails per game ratio is terrible and he contributes nothing else. This would be a total waste of money. And I completely agree with Ed - if he wasn't Irish, nobody would be interested in him at all.
