I'm not judging this boy when practically every celtic fan hasn't seen him play but at 5ft 10 and inexperienced how the hell is this the answer? especially when we've just made a fortune, it seems Brendan thinks boyata is the answer beside jozo but against top strikers he'll be terrorised I hope to god we don't go into the group stages with this defence, if that' is the case then it's a complete lack of ambition.

In terms of height, Baresi and Canavaro were both 5ft 9in so not so worried there. Just hoping he's around the same package as perhaps Denayer? But we do need as good a CB as we can afford on top of this signing. Losing Erik doesn't concern me; he's always been highly suspect.

Height has nothing to do with it. Jozo can win challenges in the air and Rivaldo can clear up on the deck. Kind of like Rieper and Stubbs.

I'm not judging either. The kid may be another Dembele or Ntcham, but i can't see it. And where our defence (that's including Gordon btw) is just now I am expecting another hiding like Barcelona. Don't get me wrong, being there to get the hiding is where we want to be but we at least want the confidence that if we park the defence we can hold back another real do in. As for height of defender, that doesn't bother me if he's got the right attributes.

Big Brendan won't be here long if we keep taking doings in the CL his reputation will go down hill fast. The board need to back him with decent finances to at least be able to compete with teams from pot 2 or pot 3.

{Ed007's Note - Did you see the teams in Pot 2? We will never have the finances to compete with teams like Barca, Dortmund, Man Utd, Man City or PSG. Pot 3 had Liverpool and Spurs that get over £100 million a year from TV, even Roma and Napoli dwarf us in the financial stakes with 83.4 million Euros and 88.9 million Euros respectively from their domestic TV deal.
How much money do you think the board would have to spend to guarantee we'd compete against those teams?
On the plus side though, drawing the German champions and the new flavour of the month with the fanboys in PSG we will get a bigger share of the CL TV moneypool.}

Ed I know what your saying. but we should be able to attract a decent signing year on year and keep our big players so we can at least try to compete. Keep Moussa get Roberts in get a quality CB in and a proper goalie in and that gives us half a chance.
