Rumours on social media that Armstrong won't be signing a new deal and will be off this summer. Shame if true.

Sad to see him leave but if his heads been turned by money after playing well for 6 months then good riddance. Still don't think he was good enough for Europe but another year and he would've matured greatly, but sadly money talks.

After watching the game yesterday plenty of cover if he does go. would be a mistake on his part but onwards and upwards for us.

Gutted if he goes. Could see him getting the armband in a few years.

I read that myself but I have no idea how reliable the source is. They are saying Southampton, Brighton, Bournemouth and Burnley have all offered him £45k a week. How do they know that? I really hope he signs up to the new contract. Goalscoring midfielders like him are hard to find.

It would appear that money is his Ghod, he had an outstanding season under Brendan but if he'd rather play for a mediocre team than a good team winning trophies and playing Champions League then punt him and invest the proceeds in a quality CB, good luck Stuart I hope you don't come to regret it .

Im not sure there is any substance to this one guys. If teams had approached him and offered wages etc that would be illegal tapping would it not. Ed?

{Ed007's Note - If another club has spoken to a player without permission then that's tapping up. Informal talks between agents about Player X moving to Team A isn't seen as tapping up.
The process should be along the lines of: Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally about a transfer and possibly even the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve either broadly (through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.
Agents will often try and get more specific details of wages and other financials before they should - but most clubs are happy to follow this process. Players will often talk to other players about moves but, whilst wrong, is tolerated as it would be impossible to manage.}

Bhoys if Stuart decides to go, I wish him the very best in his new venture. I totally agree he is a talent that will be missed, however onwards and upwards. He would have been more comfortable at Celtic if Ronnie played him in his position. Under Brendan we are bringing in young talented players and it's making my smile massive.

Shame if true. I never really understand the logic of the champions league argument yes we qualify every year and if we get through qualifiers the player will get to play six games against big teams probably two teams way above our level and one of similair strenghths . in the EPL unfortunately they are gauranteed games against half a dozen top teams and another 8-10 about thier own level. so the better standard and competition as well as huge increases in wages are very appealing but money isn't everything.

Wish him the very best, u having a laugh! Good riddance I say! 1 good season he's had and he's running for the promised land already! Sorry but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I for one will not be wishing him well or good luck! Yes I would never deny a guy the rite to make more money but there's way u go about it! Like I said get as much as possible for him and get him to f**k! Sick of actually hearing about this now and it won't be any good for team moral! Don't have him anywhere near the first team and bring ntcham and benyu in! 2 boys who actually want to be there!

Was hoping he would sign but if not to be good luck to the lad, I saw enough yesterday to remain positive we have others who can take his place, if we can get £8m we can get in another 1 or 2 top players with that cash so we move on and will continue to improve without him. If true and he definitely wants to leave I hope he is sold asap the quicker the better so we can focus on who wants to play for us I really don't see the point in playing him again if he is leaving.

11.) 16 Jul 2017
16 Jul 2017 22:41:58
Just be another player who left too soon to chase the money and the dream of playing in the mighty PL and end up at some pish Championship club fighting relegation because they couldn't cut it at the top. Armstrong's only contribution in the game against England was to give the ball away and cost us the win. He was invisible up to that point. If money is what drives him then cash in as he has only had half a good season with us.

I personally think he will leave. The outcome will be similar to that of Liam Miller.

Was actually going to make that comparison RM but couldn't even bring myself to write his name! Lol. totally agree but buddy! Like I said this definitely leaves a bad taste in the mouth for me! The club and Brendan especially has made it clear how much they want him to stay and by the looks of it it's made not a blind bit of difference! Like I said if he does move there will be no good luck and all the best from me! Sell him ASAP and don't give him a sniff of action til he's sold!

{Ed007's Note - The Club and player seem to be miles apart in wages, the duration of the deal and bonuses.}

I remember u saying it was the length of the deal that was the issue ED, doesn't surprise in the slightest there's more to it than that! If this was going to get sorted it would have been done by now. i know it comes across bitter me having a go at the boy but I really can't sit here and say he goes with all our best wishes bla bla bla! I want him sold right away before this affects the dressing room! We've got the most important games of our season over the next few weeks and having someone like that in and about the squad has no benefit at all! What does that say to the boys in our squad that a player who doesn't want to be there and has no commitment to the club still gets a game! I know I'm coming across harsh here and the boy seems like a nice enough guy, but our club comes first and that's all that interests me! What's your honest opinion on it ED, am I being to harsh here?

{Ed007's Note - I said all along it was down to wages but someone quite sternly told me it was the length of the new deal that was the sticking point. It won't affect the dressing room though, players rarely get involved in stuff like that, they'll be in a player's ear to sign etc but it won't affect morale.
I've been a long term fan of SA even when he was struggling but I can understand the way some fans are feeling about it, I said weeks ago there was a point quickly coming down the line where someone must make a decision either way. If the rumours are true I think that point has come and Celtic need to seriously look at offers. Then again it could all be nonsense and he'll sign up.}

15.) 17 Jul 2017
17 Jul 2017 02:44:47
If his head has been turned then so be it no point in keeping a player with one year left on his contract punt him now and get some money back.

16.) 17 Jul 2017
17 Jul 2017 08:21:36
The bhoy looks happy he's an intelligent lad BR has brought life into his career SA knows he's become a big part of the starting 11 so the question the big question for SA is how much is enough for him?

First of all I hope he stays. As for some of us to be slagging him off, I really don't see what he's doing wrong. Armstrong isn't a kt where he was brought up loving the hoops, he has no real affinity to the club, although I'm sure he loves it there. What is happening to us is exactly what happened with him at Utd, he was offered a better contract, a better opportunity and he took it. It's the nature of the beast, any player anyone signs it's predominately for money and opportunities. Someone on here earlier was saying play ntcham or kundai as they want to be here. Ntcham has already said he wants to play in the premier in the future. We all know most of our lads have a shelf life of two to three seasons max because the standard isn't that challenging. He stays, great he moves on, we replace him and the cycle will continue.

17 Jul 2017 08:41:53
You say wages are the issue Ed, does the boy seriously think he deserves to be our top earner!? £20k a week would double his current wage, he doesn't deserve more than that after one good season. Playing wise I don't think it will affect us too much. He obviously scored a good few goals but McGregor started to add that towards the end of the season. I also think Ntcham and Brown will be a more solid base which will allow us to play 4-2-3-1 all the time with Rogic in the team who has a better strike rate than Armstrong anyway. Its a shame cos he was improvint but oh well, he certainly won't go on to VVD or Wanyana level down there.

Yeh i mind u saying someone had told u it was 2 years he wanted but we want 3! I'm a long term fan of the lad to ED, I know it doesn't sound like it but lol! Think it's the fact I really rate him, as do most of us that this is a right kick in the balls if true! But I think your spot on mate, The time has come to get as much as we can and move on! Use the money to bring someone else in! and I know what u mean about players not bothering about things like this, but just feel it sends the wrong message to players champin at the bit to get a game that a player who isn't committed still gets a game! I wouldn't start him in any game now until he's sold! And that's not me being petty, just feel there's other players who can come in and do a job! Whatever happens I trust Brendan and know he'll have all possible outcomes covered! HH.

Think he'd be a massive loss ģoal scoring midfielders are thin on the ground plus he has a habit of scoring against sevco big loss imo.

21.) 17 Jul 2017
17 Jul 2017 14:55:27
cant stop him going but i don't have to wish him well, he hasn't done that much unless you count one good season after all he didn't set the heather alight the season before but still took a decent wage, so if he goes its to line his own pockets which he is entitled to do but i will not say thanks for all youve done and good luck.

22.) 17 Jul 2017
17 Jul 2017 21:12:20
If he is getting the chance to play at the top level in the EPL then he has to take it, simple. Forget the money, he will get the chance to test himself week in week out. He wouldn't want to end his career like Scott Brown having never tested himself and found out just how good he was.

23.) 17 Jul 2017
17 Jul 2017 21:12:34
he is very close to a move, he has been offered 4 times what he's on by english clubs, celtic only offered him double what he is on just now.
